Six Sima Green Belt

Six Sigma Green Belt Training Course

The Green Belt course is designed to provide core competencies in the use of many of the proven Six Sigma problem solving methods and key statistical tools to contribute to the success of your organization, and teaches the skill set required to participate effectively in Six Sigma projects. The course follows the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) model. This course will prepare the participant for the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt examination and certification and allow the successful participants to progress to the AOQ Black Belt Training course.
Learning Outcome
At the completion of this course the participants would be in a position to perform the following tasks as part of a Six Sigma project tem:

  1. Ability to use Define Stage tools to identify business process issues.
  2. Ability to apply statistical techniques in process analysis.
  3. Understanding of process capability and measurement.
  4. Use of descriptive statistics in understanding measured data.
  5. Understanding the techniques for selecting process improvement solutions.
  6. Ability to explain the Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts.

Course Participation Certificate

A Participation Certificate will be issued to students who have attended all classes and have completed all course work.

Green Belt Certification

Requirements
A Six Sigma Green Belt Certification will be offered to those students who have already obtained the Participation Certificate and three years work experience within the Six Sigma Body of Knowledge.  Each certification candidate is required to pass a written examination that consists of multiple-choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge. The Green Belt examination is a one-part, 100-question, four hour exam.

KEY SESSION TOPICS

Day 1: Define
Participants will learn to identify and/or validate their improvement project, illustrate their business processes using SIPOC, define customer requirements and prepare themselves to be an effective project team member.
Day 2 & 3: Measure
Participants will learn and practice Six sigma tools to determine critical measures necessary to satisfy customer requirements and develop a measurement plan to document process performance. Participants will learn the basics of variation and measure process sigma.
Day 4: Analyze
Participants will learn how to analyze the performance data to further refine the opportunity for improvement. Participants will use stratification and root cause analysis, and determine true sources of variation and customer dissatisfaction.
Day 5: Improve and Control
Participants will learn how to generate practical solutions that eliminate the root cause of customer defects. Participants will be introduced to various methods including the principles of DOE, solution identification, prioritization, and implementation and learn how to gain approval for the solution and plan for impacts the changes will have on the organization.
Participants will learn how to execute against the plan by determining the approach to ensure achievement of the targeted results. Participants will discuss how to disseminate lessons learned, identify replication and standardization opportunities, and develop a process monitoring and management plan to assure new process performance is sustained.
Day 6: Group Project Presentations
Each student is required to make a presentation on his/her group project work demonstrating key skills learned as part of the Green Belt course.
